Coursing 2013

All age cup.
Perhaps in the hottest cup in Doon in recent seasons. A host of dogs here have strong claims for outright honours. The first round buckle of course between Make Peace and Skellig Eoin worth the entry few alone. Skellig already a winner of two cups this season in Cashel and Freshford. Incidentally Make Peace was beaten in second round in Freahford by a track dog but clocked up the fastest in first round and with the aid of the red collar here I fancy him to lead Skellig Eoin in this first round course and go on and win this cup outright. Here's a look at some of the other hopefuls.

Unlucky in a number of trial stakes last season. Latest run was in Ballyduff where he was beat one length by Latest Trick in the third round dere. With form like that he could give Make Peace a scare.

From a promising litter. This puppy won a trial stake this season in Cashel. His sister won in clonmel two weeks ago. Will be hoping to enhance his derby prospects here with a forward showing.

Similar to Cill Ide Abu he was unlucky in not winning a trial stake last season. Running well this year however. Reached semi final in Abbeydorney first time out before going on to collect in Tradaree in his latest outing. Chasing champion stakes points here and could reach final from the bottom half with Offshore Town possibly the only dog standing in his way of reaching final. I expect them two to meet in semi.

Coming from an in form kennel. This dog has already won this season in Nenagh. Beaten in semi final also in Abbeydorney. Trial stake winner from last season will be hoping to reach powerstown again this season. Should progress to meet Coyote in semi final. Who ever wins that could gain enough points to qualify for champion stakes by reaching final here. Connections of this dog win cup here not so long ago with this dogs sire March Is On.

All Age Bitch

Perhaps one of the hottest all age bitch stakes this season. No less than  8 trial stake winners in this along with 3 trial stake runner ups from last season and 3 cup winners. Whoever wins this will have certainly earned it. Last 8 should be something like this I'd imagine.

First Quarter

Trial stake winner last season in Ardpatrick. Beat in 2nd round of Oaks Clonmel. Unlucky last week in Borris in Ossory when beat just up in fastest clock of the roUND. Should reach semi final.

Little of note done last season, this season winner of a hot duffer in Listowel. Won round of all age last week in Kilrush, beat just up in second round. Should meet Cooga Music in quarter finals.

Second Quarter.

Trial stake runner up last season in her only outing. So far this season beat in semi final in Ballyheigue and beaten finalist recently in Limerick City. Should beat Slippy Toes in first round here, Slippy herself semi finalist in Ballyheigue also.

This third season runner is having her first run of the year. In her puppy season she won a trial stake in Nenagh before reaching 3rd round of the Oaks in Clonmel. Last season she was beat in final of two all age bitch stakes in Doon and Borrisoleigh. Should progress to meet Blazing Excel Sunday morning.

Third Quarter.

Local runner who will be one of the favourites to win this stake after two narrow defeats this season so far when beaten in final in Crohane and narrowly beaten in semi final last weekend in Enniscorthy. Trial stake winner last season in Charleville. May not have it as easy in first round though as some people may think, Misty Echo herself won Reserve Trial stake last season on Bandon and ran well recently in Ballyduff reaching the semi finals there.

Trial stake runner up on this field last season. Beaten final of cup in Thurles this season. Given the vote to lead Kinielty Jazz here on the basis of her form on this field last season. Jazz trial stake winner last season In Tubbercurry.

Fourth Quarter.

Reserve Oaks Trial Stake winner last season in Dungarvan. Winner of all age this season in Ballyheigue, incidentally her first round opponent here Dependable was beat in first round of that stake before winning later in Abbeydorney. Just think Chow Chow will progress here to meet Barrack Millie Sunday morning.

Very pacey lady. Beat in three trial stake semi finals last season. This season was beat in final of cup in Listowel by the impressive Collect Me Now. Clocked well there. Should reach semi finals here where her likely opponent will be Bermuda Magic.

Oaks trial stake.
Very hot oaks trial stake. A number of bitches who all have serious claims to book their ticket to clonmel. Here's a look at some of them.

First Quarter.

Very pacey lady. Beaten semi finalist in charleville. Litter brother cooga darlan unluckily beaten in final of derby trial stake in thurles when getting injured when well in front. Well bred lady who should make Sunday morning.

Another well bred lady here who has been beaten on a couple of outings in good clocks etc. Her best showing was winning two rounds in charleville. Would expect her to make Sunday morning.

Second Quarter.

This bitch is drawn in a competitive enough second quarter. Already a winner of the Reserve Oaks Trial Stake in ballyheigue earlier on this season. Reappears here in her quest to collect a full ticket to clonmel.

Beaten finalist in Edenderry, clocked up well throughout the stake. Beaten afterwards in second round in Balbriggan in fastest clock. Should make last 8 here where she could face Bower Lucy.

Third Quarter.

Semi finalist in a competitive trial stake in Castleisland earlier in the season. Clocked up well throughout that stake. Beaten by winner in semi. Beat in second round recently in Rathkeale, ran disappointingly but I would still expect her to reach Sunday morning at least here.

Seriously well bred lady here from Holians kennel. Has to be respected. Beaten finalist in Loughrea. Reappeared in Galway/Oranmore meeting where she was some what disappointing but apparently all was not well with her at that meeting and she is my fancy for outright honours here.

Fourth Quarter.

Beaten semi finalist in Fermoy early on in the season. Hasn't been seen since. Litter sister to Regional Oaks Trial Stake winner Big Wave. Should reach the last 8 here.

Semi finalist in Kilflynn earlier on in year clocking up very well. Reappeared in Limerick City where she was narrowly beaten by winner in the third round. Litter sister has a trial stake won in Ballinagar. Her dam Won the Sporting Press oaks in Shelboure Park. I think this bitch could give my selection HEART LIGHT most to do.

Reserve Derby Trial Stake

Here's a look at some of the fancied runners who should be there or thereabouts come the end of the stake.

Beaten second round of Derby in Rathkeale last weekend, only beat length by the runner up after clocking up fast in first round.

Winner of two rounds in New Ross, won another two rounds in Charleville where he clocked up ok before being withdrawn. Reappeared in Ardpatrick where he met Barrow Mafi in round one who led him four lengths. Connections won this trial stake last season.

Beat in third round in Ballinagar where he clocked up very fast. Ran last weekend in Rathcormac where he clocked faster than cup dogs first run up. Beaten by runner up however in round two. He is my pick to win this trial stake.

Very well bred dog. Dam an oaks runner up. Owned by Noreen McManus and trained by Gerry Holian. First outing but has to be respected.
