Treaty Cup Limerick City

Limerick city CC are all set for their annual event which takes place this Saturday. Trials went well with great reports of their hares while the field is in super order. The treaty cup is the main event with a strong line-up. The first dog out Killeagh Jingles ran last week and by all accounts was very unfortunate not to have been awarded the flag in his first round. He will be a strong contender here. His first round opponent is a very fast hound. Beaten in the final in Miltown Malbay Derby TS last year he never recovered from that outing and it wasn’t until this year he returned to his best form He win a 32 cup in Ballyheigue and clocked very consistently throughout. He gets the nod to qualify to Sunday here. The next buckle should also be very interesting with the fast Kingdom call meeting the consistent call him bolt. Kingdom call was lightly raced last year but this 3 rd season dog holds strong claims. He was withdrawn in the final of the all age in Rathkeale and won 2 rounds of the Irish cup in February beating 2 good dogs in Ashwood James and Crafty Yahoo. I expect him to qualify from this course if he is ready for this event. Gifted rebel is a greyhound no one wants to meet in the early rounds. He ran up 2 TS last year when money on in both events. I fancy him to qualify for the semi final where Kingdom call might have too much.
The bottom half sees some very interesting runners. Isle of dreams won a puppy stake in Tipperary last year but has not hit the same heights this year. Silent rocky won a local duffer stake last year while also reaching the 4 th round in abbeyfeale. Rocking master was beat at the semi final in Ballyheigue picking up 2 champion stake points. He was beat by duarigle mystic there but I think he will win his 1 st round here. The next buckle sees the highly touted black and white against Cooga Darlan. Black and white was the hot favourite to win his TS last year in Borris n Ossory but got a bad injury in the semi final and didn’t run again. His clocks were 20 spots faster than anything in that stake and if back to his best he will give Cooga Darlan a right scare if not beat him. Cooga Darlan is consistent performer for connections running up 3 stakes. Valeview flyer beat him in the TS final in Galbally last year in a terrific buckle while Skellig sunlight beat him in Cashel. Cooga Darlan beat Ashwood James in the 2 nd round (withdrawn from final in Waterford this week) showing the form of the stake while Coshair Slane won the cup in Thurles. It was one of the best cups this year so Cooga Darlan’s outing might stand him here and go forward. The last course sees the return of Irish cup runner up from 2 years ago Intact bamba v learning curve. Now a 3 rd season dog he is exceptionally fast and should progress to meet Cooga Darlan or Black and white.
Overall it is a hard stake to call. Kingdom call looks the dog with duarigle at the top of the card while intacta banba, cooga Darlan and black and white will have a big say in the bottom. Best of luck to all runners.
