Derby & Oaks Preview

Doon CC 2014

Oaks Trial Stake

From Michael O Donovan's kennels, a kennel in a rich vein of form at the moment. Litter sister to derby fav Kyle Bruce. This lady has had one outing, reached the final in Castleisland where she ran up to the very impressive Churchill queen. Her sister Carrowclough won in rathkeale over the weekend. This lady will be a major player here.

Toem Polly.
Has had two outings and has improved on both occasions. Reached the 4th round in Cashel where she was best by a very impressive winner in ballyverry river. Ran in Nenagh more recently and was favourite before the semi finals but was unlucky in being beaten half a length in the semi final by the winner. Will be there or thereabouts in this trial stake.

Fanore Ocean.
Probably the most impressive runner I've seen running this season. Beaten in the final of a 64 in cashel. Had looked very good up to the final where she was narrowly beaten by a good winner. Wasn't fully fit in Cashel so if she has improved like she should I expect her to collect the ticket here.

Carrigmore Katie.
A local runner who has shown good form earlier on in the season where she was beaten in the semi final in Glin by the winner Lochbo Pearl. Ran last weekend in Rathkeale where she was pipped at the top of the field in a very long slip in a good clock. Could go well in this slightly shorter field, especially with her early pace from slips.

Shaws Noreen
Having only her second outing this weekend. Very well bred lady. Won the working members stake at the Clonmel and Kilsheelan meeting which is no mean feat so obviously has pace and could win a few rounds in the bottom half.

Missouri Duchess.
Another local runner here who with a bit of luck could go well, litter sister to another fancy Toem Polly. Has had two outings where she has reached the semi finals on both occasions. Hoping to make it third time lucky here.

Reserve Derby Trial Stake

Downtown Geezer
A pacey well bred dog who has been unlucky by meeting some good ones along the way, but has still managed to record some good clocks. Could go close here with some luck.

Call up son.
Making his debut here. Owned by Noreen Mc Manus. And a son of the great Call Up. Litter brother has already collected a ticket. Mrs Mc Manus is hoping to collect a second trial stake in the space of a week after her win in with Leg It Fast in Rathkeale last weekend. Hard to judge this guy but I'm sure he won't be too far away.

Magical Harvey.
Well bred dog from an in form kennel after litter sister Magical Saorla collected recently. Has had two outings where he reached the semi finals on both occasions. Should go close here

Freemount Sire
Winner of Duffer in Regional early on the season. Then went to Waterford where he reached the third round of the Trial Stake. Could go well here and progress to meet Magical in the semi final.
