Slievenamon Cup – Crohane & Kilenaule
The Slievenamon cup in Crohane is the feature event of their annual meeting with the cup attracting a few notable entries. The very first dog drawn out will more than likely open favourite Saturday morning. Blazing music lost in the semi final on the opening meeting of the year in Kilflynn to Kyle Bruce. This was an exceptional run and connections have him out early again to try and claim some silverware before moving to Pakistan in November. He meets the reigning Slievenamon cup winner in the opening round. Marshals Mercury has been an excellent servant to the Roche family and qualified for the champion stakes last year after winning here and in Co. Carlow. The next course sees Inch Hothead and Blue Beruki do battle. Inch gave the Egan family a memorable time last January when storming to victory in their own meeting. He is a fast dog on his day and will need to be ready for his return to action. Blue Beruki was well liked last year and ran well in Regional recetly. He was beat a couple of lengths by Kyle Fionn in the second round but the field here will suit better. The couple of runs will do him good and gets my vote to progress.
Who needs proof won a duffer stake in Mooncoin and may come up short against Sunfire Central. He ran up the TS here last year and ran well in a couple of meetings after. Geordie Casanova is very fast in the opening rounds and ran up the TS in East Donegal last year. He won 2 rounds of the Irish Purse and may outgun Newlands Kal.This dog was formerly known as Fingal Kal where he ran up the TS in Westmeath last year. Seamus Alainn ran up to Fingal Billy in Galway/Oranmore last year after clocking marginally better in the semi-
Moonveen King won the Patsy Byrne one course duffer in Kilflynn, while handsome jack (also 4 th season) has seen plenty of meetings throughout his time with a win in Freshford his best achievement. Wallers Lot Matt won a reserve Derby in Waterford while Ratoo Paddy was beat in the local stake in Sevenhouses last year. Wallers Lot Matt looks the pick of these 4 runners and is my choice to join Blazing Music, Geordie Casanova and Seamus Alainn in the last 4. Blazing Musics form in Kilflynn is standout to anything anyone else has achieved and based on that he gets my vote to win out.
