Carlow All Age Cup
Intacta to Strike
County Carlow holds its annual meeting this weekend and it promises to be a cracker. The club have done super work this year and are accommodating a 64 Derby trial stake. The all age cup has attracted many several runners and is sure to be highly competitive come Sunday evening. The top half sees fancied runners such as New Ross AAD winner Sun fire nova, the speedy Coshair Bosco who hails from the inform Coss kennels and the Crohane/Killenaule winner Marshals Mercury. Surfire nova was touted as a Derby hope last year after running up to Needham Danger (formerly Telex Danger) in Carlow and winning the TS after in Enniscorthy. His form down a downward spiral after but came back this year with a bang in New Ross claiming the top prize. He likes a long field and this meeting should suit down to the ground. Another lover of a long field is Coshair Bosco. He ran up the TS in Templetuohy last year and many observers felt that if the course went up a bit further he would have claimed his Powerstown ticket. He was due to run in Edenderry but was withdrawn in the first round.
The next course sees Marshals mercury take his place. He is a very consistent dog who IMO was unlucky not to qualify for the champion stakes last year. He showed he still holds all his class 3 weeks ago in Crohane where he ran out a convincing winner. He again likes a stamina test so should be suited here. He gets my vote to make Sunday’s semi-
The bottom half is as competitive. Blueview Charlie, intacta banba and Floating patriot all fancied to run well. Blueview Charlie has a similar profile to Coshair Bosco. He also ran up a TS (in Galway/Oranmore) last year and came into this season with more hope than expectation as he had an injury blighted opening season. He showed that these injuries were behind him in Edenderry where he powered through the stake. He meets the speedy Needham gadget in the first round but I think will hold too many guns. Next up is former Irish cup runner up Intacta Banba. He ran last week with distinction where his clock in the first round was quickest of the entire meeting. He was beat by eventual winner Black and white in the 2 nd round in a tight buckle after leaving slips a length behind. Floating Patriot is having a busy season already. He ran 5 times in Kilflynn, and 3 times 2 weeks ago. He has 6 champion stakes points and a win here will defiantly see him take his place in Clonmel. I fancy him to reach the semi-
